A few days ago, Lisa N. and I saw a brass military band playing to a small crowd in Piazza Dante. She told me they were commemorating the Four Days of Naples. Today--October 1--marks the 69th anniversary of the arrival of the Allied forces in Naples... but not the liberation. The Neapolitan people had already driven the Germans out in a massive civil uprising.
